The word "weepy" in the title made me put off reading until now because I am the most weepiest of all weepers and I wanted to wait until I was really alone just in case it became full blown sob. I was right, it did hahah but not in a bad way, just in that "Oh my gosh this is the most wonderful thing ever!" way. Thanks for sharing it, it always makes me feel better to be reminded that there are good humans out there.
Oh, Mickey. My eyes are full of tears and my heart is full of joy.
I'm in isolation now because today, I tested positive for COVID. My husband sits with the dogs in the rest of the house and we can't celebrate together. But I'm going to forward this to him to brighten this Christmas day and to share the loving spirit held in this essay.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Mickey! I wonder where Isabella Garcia is now? Speaking of grown up kids, I just watched a short piece on Twitter from Barack Obama about reuniting with the little boy that touched his hair in the Oval Office. Very sweet. Good luck, talk soon.
Thanks for sharing these stories, Mickey. Getting to be Santa is a rare and wonderful treat. Back when I was an actor in Orlando, I got to be the big guy a couple years in a row for corporate gigs. One year, it was for the Christmas party for all the cab and bus drivers who would be working on Christmas day. I was shuttled in a golf cart from my green room to the party and as I drove by all the repair bays, all the mechanics came running out in their oil-stained uniforms, waving and cheering for me. I've always said it's the closest I'll ever feel to what being the Beatles must've been like. For one day, I was the most famous, beloved guy in the world. Happy holidays!
Mickey, omg what a beautiful message. I try to read all your posts all year long but sometimes I'm too busy and miss some. But today as I'm getting ready to cook all day for our Christmas Eve dinner, I had a moment to read this. Your message was beautiful and made me tear up. The little girl that you made her believe. That's the spirit of Christmas isn't it! Thank you for all you do for the writing community. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year! You're truly one of the good guys and we're lucky to have you in our lives.
Thank you for being a picture of a kind human being, Mickey. It's much needed these days. Awesome post.
